In 1990, Willamette Pass brought snowmaking to Oregon for the first time. Now we’re taking it further. We’re excited to announce a major expansion of our snowmaking system at Willamette Pass!
This upgrade more than triples our prior snowmaking capacity, extending coverage from the top of the mountain to allow for true top-to-bottom skiing, meaning better conditions, more consistent early-season terrain, and more opportunities to ski and ride than ever before. This is one of the most significant infrastructure investments in the mountain’s recent history, and is another way we’re giving our guests the freedom to ski and ride at Willamette Pass.
By the Numbers
- 19 total snow guns, made up of 16 fan guns and 3 mounted tower guns
- Nearly 70 new acres of terrain now under snowmaking coverage
- Snowmaking now possible on Kaleidoscope, Eagle’s Flight, Perseverance, By George, Rough Cut, and Sleepy Hollow, as temperatures allow
What This Means for Your Season
This means you’ll have the opportunity to ski and ride from the top to the bottom of the mountain earlier in the season and more consistently all winter long. This project has been years in the making, and now that it’s here, it means we’re better prepared for whatever winter brings our way, so you can spend less time wondering about conditions and more time skiing and riding.
